8 Tips to Save Data on Your Phone

If your data bundle never seems to last long enough, you're not alone. Many smartphone users burn through their data without realizing where it's going. Here are eight practical tips to make your data last longer.
1. Disable auto-play videos on social media. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter all auto-play videos as you scroll, consuming significant data. Go into each app's settings and disable this feature, or set it to Wi-Fi only.
2. Update apps only on Wi-Fi. App updates can be hundreds of megabytes. Set your phone to only update apps when connected to Wi-Fi. On Android, go to Play Store > Settings > Network preferences. On iPhone, go to Settings > App Store.
3. Use data compression in your browser. Chrome's Lite Mode and Opera's compression features can reduce data usage by up to 50% while browsing the web.
4. Download music and videos for offline use. If you use Spotify, YouTube, or Netflix, download content while on Wi-Fi instead of streaming on mobile data.
5. Restrict background data. Many apps consume data in the background even when you're not using them. Go to your phone's settings and restrict background data for apps that don't need it.
6. Use Wi-Fi whenever available. Connect to trusted Wi-Fi networks at home, work, and public places to save your mobile data for when you actually need it.
7. Monitor your data usage regularly. Check your data usage in your phone's settings to identify which apps are consuming the most data. You might be surprised by the results.
8. Choose the right data bundle. Use GetDataGH to find bundles that match your actual usage. A slightly larger bundle might offer better value per GB than buying multiple small bundles.
